Company background
| Company background | Rentes Plants is one of the longest running nurseries in Ireland, having been established on just two and a half acres back in 1978. We have been at the forefront of development in the Irish horticultural industry, by constantly introducing new ideas and services as the years go on. As early as 1980 we were the first nursery in Ireland to grow its plants in “Rigid” pots. The marketing concept of attaching picture labels to shrubs and delivery on Danish style (CC) trolleys, now considered an industry standard, were both first introduced in Ireland by Rentes Plants. Following soon afterwards was the introduction of fax, pre-pricing and bar-coding plants for garden centres. Rentes Plants Ltd is focused on supplying the greatest range and quality found anywhere in Ireland. We now offer over 600 individual plant varieties year round, in a huge assortment of sizes/colours/shapes. Rentes Plants currently has 6.8 Hectares available for plant production, with everything from shrubs to trees, roses to climbers being grown, with a further 4 Hectares set aside for future development. Development is continuous, and we have been able to continue facility construction despite the economic downturn. Rentes Plants currently has a fulltime staff of 17, the majority of whom have been with us for over 10 years. |

| Awards | This year sees the introduction of the new Bord Bia: Horticulture Quality Assurance Scheme which we were awarded. The criteria for receiving this certification are strict and many, covering hundreds of topics! These range from ethical production, chemical control, weed control, traceability, etc. Rentes plants have been winners of the Bord Bia: “Republic of Ireland Plant Supplier of the Year” award in 2003/2004, 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and most recently in 2010/2011. Each other year we placed runner-up. Winner: "Most Environmentally Friendly Nursery" in Ireland, 2008. Here at Rentes Plants, we are very proud of these awards, and they are testament to the company’s ethos of providing our customers with the highest possible quality and range of products, and a level of customer service and product knowledge not found elsewhere. |
